Diocese of Galloway Youth Forum

Hello Friends,

Aid to the Church in Need Scotland has had an eventful week planning our exciting new school workshops and as ever we are in awe at the generosity of the Scottish people, standing in solidarity with persecuted Christians across the world.

The highlight for me this week had to be....the Diocese of Galloway Youth Forum on Tuesday!

The day took place in Queen Margaret Academy, Ayr where I shared my personal faith journey with the students there and how it led me to work for Aid to the Church in Need. My presentation of course also involved a rally call to the pupils to put their own faith into action by standing shoulder to shoulder with their persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. The 100 or so students and the staff attending did not disappoint. Indeed, the students present showed a sincere interest in the persecuted Church and were shocked at how little the media covered the issue.

We at ACN look forward to working with our new friends made on the day in 2015.

If you, your school or parish would like to be part of our 2015 plans please do get in touch:

Other topics that were discussed on the day were the priesthood, religious life, Catholic teaching, political life and Marriage and family.

I feel privileged that ACN Scotland was asked to take part and speak to the Diocesan youth about charitable work and faith.

I thank all the organisers, in particular:

  • Father Stephen McGrattan for his prayerful support on the day
  • The young adults who were a credit to their school
  • My fellow speakers who I look forward to working closely with in the coming months
  • The catering staff who provided a most excellent lunch, in particular the carrot cake
Yours,

Michael

P.S. Photos to follow!!! :-)
