Tomorrow (Tuesday the 18th November) I have been invited by Galloway Diocese to speak to 100 or so High School pupils about my personal faith journey and how that led me to work for Aid to the Church in Need.
I must say, I feel both privileged and excited about the prospect of providing witness (and if I am lucky, inspiration) to the pupils.
At 18, I was encouraged by Pope Benedict's visit to the UK and Christ's calling for me to love my neighbours and to put my love and faith into action. As a consequence, I committed myself to a life of service to build up Christ's Church and that is one of the reasons I feel so blessed to work for ACN because I get to do this on a daily basis. It is this hope and love of my fellow man I hope to share with the students and encourage them to put their faith into action.
There are many ways in which individuals and schools can put their faith into action by supporting ACN. Some of the ways to support ACN include: offering some of your prayer time for the persecuted Church, helping us to spread awareness of the persecuted Church via social media or becoming a 'Solidarity School' by fundraising for persecuted Christian's worldwide.
All of these options help ACN provide more aid to the Church in need.

Most of the pupils expected to attend the event are currently working on their Caritas Award (an excellent initiative from the Scottish Catholic Education Service) and are looking at ways to deepen and affirm the great value of belonging to a faith community.
The day will bring together the four Catholic Secondary Schools of Galloway
Diocese: St Matthew’s Academy, Saltcoats; St Joseph’s Academy, Kilmarnock;
Queen Margaret Academy, Ayr; and St Joseph’s College, Dumfries.
My hope for tomorrow is that I encourage young people to be active in the life of the Church, find out more about ACN and grow closer in their relationship with Jesus.
Yours,
Michael
