Well I have now been in post for 2
whole weeks. Before I catch you up with this week's highlight I thought I would
provide you a quick overview of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) (for
those who might not know).
Here we go in 4 steps…
For more details check out our new
website: www.acnuk.org/what-we-do
- ACN is a Pontifical Foundation of the Catholic Church (basically meaning the Pope fully supports and endorses the work that we do on behalf of the Church).
- We support Christians where they are persecuted, oppressed or in pastoral need.
- Every year we offer financial support (thanks to YOU) to more than 5,000 projects worldwide and work in over 147 countries each year.
- ACN receives no public or official Church funding, relying solely on the generosity of our benefactors.
Next time I will give you a brief history of ACN (for those geeky
historians out there, like me).

ANYWAY…
This week I met with a good friend of
the office: John Mason MSP.
John Mason is the Scottish National
Party Member of the Scottish Parliament for Glasgow Shettleston. John is a
fellow Christian and attends a local Baptist Church. It was clear
from meeting with Mr Mason that we have his full support and prayers.
The MSP was well versed in the current
situation with the persecuted Church and the important role we at ACN
play.

John provided a number of useful
pointers on how ACN can raise its profile in the Scottish Parliament and also
kindly offered to put us in touch with ecumenical partners.
