If you recognise that line, you’re likely to be a fellow musical
enthusiast, like me. The line of course comes from the Sound of Music.
Perhaps I choose this song because it’s about a family fleeing
persecution or simply because of the Catholic connection.
ANYWAY…
A hello to all, whether you are a benefactor, priest, staff member or
simply curious to find out more about the Scottish Office of Aid to the Church
in Need. My name is Michael Robinson and
I am the newly appointed Communications Executive in Scotland.
I am nearing the end of my very first week and thought I should update
you all. It will
be my job to promote the work of ACN amongst politicians, the media and the
clergy. I will also be charged with updating our BRAND NEW Facebook and Twitter
accounts (Please follow and like us).
Week 1
For now, let me provide you with a brief overview of this week’s
activities:
The week began with a very warm induction and welcome from my manager
Lorraine McMahon (Head of Operations in Scotland). After this it was straight to work with
planning our very exciting October the 9th Witness Event. This year
the theme is ‘Extremism, Hope and Faith’ in Motherwell. The event promises to be a wonderful night of prayer, witness and
celebration.
My next big task this week was to email out all 128 Members of the
Scottish Parliament (MSP) and introduce myself and the important work we do
(which is only made possible because of your wonderful love and support). So
far the response from MSP’s has been extremely encouraging and positive and I
will update you with the details of who and when I will meet.
All in all I have had a very enjoyable first week and feel very privileged
to work for ACN and represent the persecuted Church.
This blog will be used to promote our work and keep you up to date with
all things ACN… and the wonderful adventures we have. I hope you find the blog
to be interesting and informative but if
you have any ideas on topics you would like me to write about then please do
get in touch.
So thanks for reading and check back regularly.
