St Aidan’s RC High School, in Wishaw, has become the first official Aid to the Church in Need ‘Solidarity School’.

The campaign seeks to awaken the conscience of Scotland’s youth by encouraging them to become global citizens. Aid to the Church in Need believes that it will be an invaluable and necessary challenge for the youth of Scotland to learn about the existence and scale of Christian persecution.

Commenting on why St Aidan’s became an ACN Solidarity School, Mrs Barton (Principal Teacher of RE)  said:  “This partnership will allow our students to learn more about, and engage with, issues of persecution, religious freedom and human rights throughout the world.”

I would like to thank St Aidan's for taking this step in acknowledging the existence of Christian persecution and for committing to raise awareness and funds for the  persecuted Church.
