Prince Charles confirms solidarity with persecuted Christians

Hello All,

It's not every day you get to attend a prayer and worship Service with the future King of the United Kingdom. Well that's exactly what I did this week on Tuesday 9th December 2014!

The Prince of Wales visited the Iraqi Chaldean Christian community in London, to hear their first-hand experience as persecuted Christians in the Middle East and Aid to the church in Need was fortunate to be invited to attend.

The Prince’s visit yesterday to the Catholic Church of the Holy Family, West London involved:

  • The local Chaldean choir singing
  • A talk from  Fr Nadheer Dako, parish priest of the Chaldean Catholic mission in London
  • Archbishop Habib Bacha of Basra, reading a letter from Patriarch Louis Sako
  • John Pontifex, ACN’s Head of Press and Information, speaking about his recent experience in Iraq

The Prince said: “Like so many of you, I have been deeply distressed by the horrific scenes of violence and persecution coming out of your beloved Iraq."

During the Service the Lord’s Prayer was said in Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ, which for me was truly beautiful to hear. The Prince described the prayer as a “special experience" and one that “Somehow connects us even more closely with our Lord more than 2,000 years ago”.

The Prince met Neville Kyrke-Smith, National Director of Aid To The Church In Need UK, telling him: “You’re doing a fantastic job.”
The real reason ACN is able to do such a "fantastic job", is due to the love and generosity of our wonderful benefactors.
