CHRISTmas.....is coming

Hello All,

As I sit here about to write this week's blog, I realise we now only have 9 days left till Christmas Day...and counting.

With this in mind I thought I would write about the Christmas season.

But what do we / I mean by the word Christmas? Is it about the gifts under the tree, the cards in the mail or is it simply about eating a lot of turkey (apologies if you are a vegetarian like my mum and sister) with the family?

The reason for the season....

For me, as a Christian, Christmas is a season about great joy, hope and love. It is an opportunity for God to show his great love for us and gift us his only son. Christmas is also a time when we celebrate with joy the birth of Jesus Christ and the relationship we can have with God through his son. Equally, Christmas is a time of hope for greater things in this life and the next. In hope lies the power for man to have the courage to say yes to God and to persevere with any challenges we may face.

Unfortunately, for many around the world who experience discrimination, intimidation and violence for saying yes to God, are in need of joy, hope and love from their brothers and sisters in Christ and indeed all of Scotland.

Experiencing the joy, hope and love at Christmas, offered by God, also affords us the opportunity to think about how we can practically and spiritually respond to the needs of those in a less fortunate position than us.

This Christmas please consider sending the gift of joy, hope and love to persecuted, suffering Christians by visiting our website:

www.acnuk.org/virtualgifts.php

Alternatively, please keep the work of ACN and the persecuted Church in your prayers. The prayer for persecuted Christians can be found here:

May I wish you and your family a blessed and peaceful Christmas.

Yours,

Michael
