World Youth Day
We are very excited to announce that
Michael from ACN Scotland and Catherine from ACN North West England will be representing ACN UK at
the 2016 World Youth Day.
World Youth Day (WYD) is an event for
young people (18-35) organized every three years by the Catholic Church. The
next occasion, World Youth Day 2016,
will be held 25–31 July 2016 in Kraków, Poland. WYD was initiated by Saint
Pope John Paul II in 1985.
2016
According to recent reports there are
600,000 registered pilgrims from around the world but numbers are
expected to swell to as many as two million by the final Sunday Mass with Pope
Francis.
Faith, family, justice and the Year of
Mercy are among the themes this year. In particular, where youngsters can find
a powerful sense of community spending nearly a week with other young
Catholics.
Aid to the Church in Need will be using
the opportunity to increase awareness of the persecuted and oppressed Church.
We will also be letting the young people know about how they can get
involved with our work when they are back home.
