Freedom of religion... is a human right!

5th November 2014

Today I thought I would blog about ACN Scotland's next major event.

To mark the launch of Aid to the Church in Need’s  Religious Freedom Report, please join us on Wednesday 5th November 2014 at 6.30pm in the Gillis Centre (100 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1BB).

At the event you will learn about those people throughout the world who suffer persecution because of their faith and ways in which you can stand up and make a difference.

The report is not only relevant to Christians, nor indeed just to people of faith, but has something to say to everybody who cherishes freedom. Remember that...

Remember that...
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
(Article 18 of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights)

Why religious freedom is important...

Because religious freedom is a fundamental human right of every person on earth.

God reveals to us through scripture that he gave us the gifts of individuality and freedom to become what he has created us to be. Religious freedom is intrinsic to this and represents the dignity of the human person.

This dignity is not based on relativistic notions of the human person but on every human being, being created equally in the image and likeness of God.

Yours,

Michael

P.S. BOOK YOUR TICKET.....NOW!  :-)
