Extremism, Hope and Faith

9th October 2014 - Have YOU secured a seat?

With just over a week to go before ACN Scotland's Annual Event, I thought I would remind you of the all-important details.

THIS IS AN EVENT YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS...with: incredible speakers, remarkable music, a beautiful venue and the opportunity to be part of an amazing evening of solidarity.

This year we are excited to welcome Archbishop Elias Nassar to Scotland and in particular Motherwell.

Lebanese based Archbishop Nassar will give a first hand update on the impact the influx of refugees from war-torn Syria and Iraq has had on life in Lebanon.

I am greatly looking forward to meeting Archbishop Nassar in person and hearing his thoughts and concerns on what lies ahead for Christianity in the Middle East.

Lorraine McMahon, ACN's Head of Operations in Scotland, also stressed the significance of the Archbishop's visit in this week's Scottish Catholic Observer:

'At this year's event we are very fortunate to have such a well respected and international figure in the Catholic Church and international community.'

Key Information

The evening begins at 6.30pm with Mass in Motherwell Cathedral and the main celebrant will be Bishop Joseph Toal. We also have a number of priests from across the Diocese.

As someone who loves music and in particular the important part it plays in the Mass I am delighted to tell you that this year we have a choir from.... Our Lady's High School, Motherwell.

Following Mass, there will be talks in St Bride's Hall at 8.00pm from Archbishop Nassar and Neville Kyrke-Smith (National Director Aid to the Church in Need UK).
